For the perfect way to discover and capture the original spirit of Cyprus, join the ‘A Taste of Cyprus’ Donkey Safari and leave the city behind!
Beginning with a drive through the ‘Red Villages’ – located near the main resorts and thus named for their distinctive red soil that grows various crops – we will head towards the Argonaftis Animal Park. Located adjacent to the Achna Dam, this is a unique destination where tradition is preserved and local customs can be enjoyed.
Upon arrival, experience the meaning of true Cypriot hospitality as you sample traditional products of the island: the local firewater Zivania, village wine, Halloumi cheese, olives, bread and the homemade sweet Sushoukko (a sweet made from grapes and nuts). A leisurely stroll around the park will introduce you to the various poultry and other animals.
A fantastic donkey ride is next under the watchful supervision of our professional staff to ensure both the comfort and safety of the whole family. So once the helmets are on, it’s time for adventure as we travel by using the island’s oldest and most reliable form of transport – the gentle and friendly donkey!
Trotting gently through the lush plantations, the journey will take you to the beautiful chapel of St. George ‘Teratsiotis’ (14th – 15th Century) where refreshments and seasonal fresh fruit will be served – to be enjoyed in the relaxing tranquillity of the countryside before heading back to the animal park.
Upon return to the animal park, a BBQ meal accompanied by home-cooked specialities will await you, complete with wine, Zivania and juice for the children, followed by a show of Cypriot folk dancing and music.
Our entertainment team will delight and entertain you with Cypriot, Greek and International music and dancing all evening, and you will not be able to resist the familiar rhythm of the Greek ‘Syrtaki’ dance and are welcome to join in! The evening concludes with the awarding of a special souvenir certificate of participation.
This is a unique day of entertainment with fun and adventure that offers an unforgettable and traditional Cyprus experience for all the family.
Activities for Children
Petting zoo of animals including baby donkeys, dogs, chickens, rabbits, tortoises, lambs and goats under the supervision of qualified representatives of the farm.
